About Us

Operating within a genuinely multidisciplinary team, our Acute Community Intervention Service (ACIS) is there for people at their most vulnerable moments - delivering timely, holistic and recovery-oriented mental health care to consumers of all ages in crisis. The team supports consumers through the acute or crisis phase of illness with one goal front of mind: helping people stay in, or safely return to, the community they call home. Every intervention is person-centred and trauma-informed, shaped around the individual in front of us rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Here's what the service brings together:

About the Role

As Team Manager, you'll lead the ACIS team in Dandenong, partnering closely with the Lead Psychiatrist to keep the service performing at its best - clinically, operationally and culturally. You'll take genuine ownership of KPIs, budgets, quality and safety, while staying firmly focused on the people who matter most: consumers, carers and your own team. Day to day, that means providing visible, hands-on leadership, coaching and supporting your staff, and making sure every consumer receives timely, coordinated, recovery-focused care. You'll also act as an honest bridge between the frontline and the broader Mental Health Program, speaking up about what's working well and what needs a hand. Key Responsibilities

This role blends clinical leadership with the everyday realities of running a busy acute service. We're after someone who can hold the big picture;  performance, budgets, safety, while still showing up for their team. In this role, you will:

• Provide visible, hands-on leadership and operational management across the ACIS team
• Drive performance against KPI, budget and Statement of Priority targets, including ED-to-bed and treatment planning benchmarks
• Lead, coach and develop your team through effective recruitment, supervision and performance management
• Oversee incident investigation, quality improvement and compliance with safety and clinical governance standards

About You

You're a natural leader who thrives in a fast-paced acute environment - someone who can hold their nerve in a crisis and still bring warmth to a Monday morning handover. You back your clinical judgement, but you know the best outcomes come from a team that feels genuinely supported.

• You bring proven leadership and people-management experience, with a knack for getting the best out of a diverse team
• You communicate with clarity and warmth, building trusted relationships across clinical, consumer and external networks
• You stay calm, fair and solutions-focused when things get complex or conflict arises
• You're genuinely driven by person-centred, recovery-oriented care and a belief in continuous improvement

Qualifications & Mandatory Requirements

We know great leaders come from different professional backgrounds, which is why this role is open to Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Occupational Therapists and Social Workers at Grade 5 level. Whichever discipline you bring, you'll need:

• Current AHPRA registration (Nursing/OT) or an AASW-eligible qualification (Social Work), relevant to your discipline
• Relevant minimum experience for your profession (5+ years Nursing, 7+ years OT, 10+ years Social Work) in a mental health or allied health setting
• Current Police Check and Working with Children Check, with willingness to complete NDIS Worker Screening where required
• Demonstrated leadership or management experience, or active progress towards a relevant leadership qualification

Preferred Experience

While not essential, you'll settle into this role a little faster if you also have:

• Experience in community mental health, acute care or crisis intervention settings
• A qualification or working knowledge of health administration or management principles
• Experience investigating incidents and leading quality and safety improvements
• Confidence engaging a broad network of stakeholders - from EDs and GPs to NDIS providers and family/carer supports
