Skipper for a 4-6week contract

About the role

We are seeking a skipper (Master <24m) to assist with a short-term project in Merimbula involving the removal of a jetty/boardwalk and installation of piles. You will operate a 6m push punt and a 12m splitable, road transportable dumb barge with hydraulic spuds. A coxswain 3 operator familiar with the vessel and operations will be present and will be the excavator operator from our company who will have a 10t excavator aboard.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and manage the barge and push punt during jetty/boardwalk removal and pile installation

• Work split shifts due to tidal constraints, including short day hours and night shifts when tides are high for positioning the barge

• Assist with piling locations and rigging/lifting of boardwalk timbers to the barge

• Complete rigging of slings for excavator as required

• Use mobile phone for GPS tracking software, online inductions, AMSA forms, and daily forms

• Work Monday to Friday with possible Saturday work if tides or weather demand it

About you

• Master <24m ticket

• Current First Aid certification

• Construction White Card

• Driver's Licence C class and own transport

• Live within 30 minutes of Merimbula

• Commitment to entire project (guaranteed 4 weeks, project may take up to 6 weeks)

• Mobile phone capable of loading and using GPS tracking software, form completion software, and Navionics

• Confident and capable of using phone for online inductions and AMSA forms

• Physically fit and willing to work as a labourer to assist with piling locations and rigging/lifting

• Reliable tow vehicle (4WD) capable of launching/retrieving a 6m punt daily (advantageous)

• Rigging/Dogman capacity (advantageous)

• Local knowledge of tides, ramps and waterway (advantageous)
