Senior Geotechnical Engineer

About the role

You will be responsible for managing geotechnical projects from investigation through to reporting and client delivery. This role would suit an engineer who has developed a solid technical foundation and is now looking to take greater ownership of projects, work directly with clients and continue progressing toward a senior/principal level career.

Key responsibilities

• Planning and managing geotechnical investigations

• Reviewing borehole, DCP, SPT, laboratory and other investigation data

• Preparing and reviewing geotechnical reports

• Providing foundation, excavation, retaining wall and earthworks advice

• Managing project budgets, timeframes and deliverables

• Coordinating field engineers, drillers and subcontractors

• Liaising directly with clients, builders, consultants and other stakeholders

• Attending sites where required to assess geotechnical conditions

• Identifying when more complex technical issues require escalation

• Assisting and mentoring junior engineers.

About you

• Approximately 5–8 years geotechnical consulting experience

• A degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent

• Strong practical understanding of geotechnical site investigations

• Experience preparing geotechnical reports and recommendations

• Good understanding of soil and rock behaviour

• Experience managing multiple projects concurrently

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Confidence communicating directly with clients

• Good judgement and the ability to work independently

• A current Australian driver's licence
