About the role
Yudi Gunyi School caters for students from 10-17 years who require additional academic supports for behaviour, learning and engagement. We work in partnership with our neighbouring mainstream schools and NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group to support students who are referred to us for significant mental health and behavioural challenges.
Our school works side by side with NSW Health with an onsite clinical practice, Ngaramadhi Space, which provides students and their families with a trauma-informed, wrap around model of care spanning education, health, allied health and community services. This cross system support implements a multidisciplinary approach to learning with an aim to incorporate educational and health priorities on an individual basis.
Our team of specialist educators create a supportive environment for our students to thrive through high expectations and high support. We value respect, curiosity and working together towards shared goals in close partnership with our community.
Yudi Gunyi School is a transition setting which provides short to medium term interventions to support students unique journey - building confidence, cultural connection, community engagement and capabilities to either return to their mainstream school or prepare for future opportunities.
General Selection Criteria1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
In addition to the general selection criteria:
Demonstrated ability to effectively lead complex case management of students through fostering a consultative student-centred approach with a focus on personalised learning and transitions across educational settings and post-school pathways.
Proven capacity to lead and implement inclusive, evidence-based practices that enhance educational outcomes for students with additional learning and support needs.
High level capacity to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate effective school systems and management processes to ensure excellence in student wellbeing, belonging and behaviour.
Proven ability to build and maintain collaborative partnerships with parents/carers and community stakeholders, including Aboriginal Education Consultative Groups (AECG), NSW Health, referring schools and external agencies.
Evidence of a highly visible, approachable and collaborative leader who can lead a culture of high expectations, high trust and positive school climate to ensure a supportive learning environment for all.
