Working within the multidisciplinary team to provide evidenced based clinical podiatry care to stakeholders and customers of Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service.

About us:

The Diabetes Centre is the major specialist referral and resource centre in Far North Queensland and provides diabetes services to the Torres, Cape, and Cairns and Hinterland Health Service areas. The team provides in reach services to the Cairns Hospital, outreach and telehealth services to the Cairns Hinterland Hospital Health Service (CHHHS) and telehealth services to the Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service (TCHHS).

The Diabetes Centre applies a multidisciplinary team approach to care in a collaborative practice model.  The team includes medical specialists, nurse practitioner, clinical nurse consultant, diabetes nurse educators, research nurse, enrolled nurses, dietitians, podiatrists, social worker, psychologists, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers, and administration staff.

About your opportunity:

In this position you will….

• As experience builds, apply increasingly independent clinical judgement to more complex clinical decision making under clinical practice supervision or professional guidance of a more senior podiatrist.
• Actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, workplace health and safety and ethical behaviour.
• Participate in initiating, developing, and implementing quality and service improvement activities to continually improve patient care, including the development of clinical practices, procedures, and protocols within the work environment.
