About the Opportunity:
Norwest is seeking a Payroll and Accounts Assistant to support our Finance and Payroll team. Reporting to the Accountant and Payroll Officer, you’ll work closely with the team to support the efficient and accurate delivery of accounts payable and payroll functions. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone with strong attention to detail, a proactive approach, and an interest in developing their experience across both finance and payroll.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Support the Accounts Payable function, including processing and reviewing supplier invoices.
Check invoices and transactions for accuracy and assist with reconciliations and supplier statements.
Help ensure payment, payroll and month-end deadlines are met.
Identify opportunities to improve and streamline Accounts Payable processes.
Maintain accurate financial and payroll records, with strong attention to detail.
Collect and verify employee timesheets and hours worked.
Assist the Payroll Officer with weekly payroll processing.
Ensure salaries, deductions and other payroll transactions are processed accurately and on time.
Maintain employee payroll records in line with relevant legislation, Awards, Enterprise Agreements and contracts.
Assist with payroll and accounts queries from employees and suppliers.
Work collaboratively with the Finance team and contribute to ongoing process improvements.
To be successful for this role you must possess the following:
Minimum 2 years’ experience in accounts payable, payroll or a similar role.
Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
Good organisational and time management skills.
Ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A proactive, reliable and team-focused approach.
Good Microsoft Suite skills and confidence learning new systems.
Experience with MYOB and/or ProSpend is highly regarded.
