Role Description:They are looking for multiple experienced Senior Software / AI Engineer to join their high-performing Innovation team. This role requires a practical, hands-on engineer to design, test, and validate next-generation digital solutions, prototypes, and emerging technology capabilities that align with departmental priorities.
Responsibilities: - Design, develop, test, and support innovative digital solutions, prototypes, and applied AI capabilities using contemporary software engineering practices.
- Write optimized code and build robust applications using technologies including C#/.NET web applications/APIs and Python for AI/ML frameworks.
- Research, assess, and evaluate emerging technologies, industry best practices, and new tools to develop proof-of-concepts (PoCs) and validate technical hypotheses.
- Support the industrialisation, operationalisation, and broader adoption of experimental solutions, ensuring they scale securely and align with enterprise architecture and governance.
- Collaborate with architects, delivery teams, and business stakeholders to develop reusable components, libraries, frameworks, technical patterns, and standard processes.
- Architect secure, automated, and repeatable cloud environments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC / Terraform) and integrate robust CI/CD pipelines into active AI workflows.
- Contribute to capability uplift across the organisation through knowledge sharing, documentation of technical learnings, and mentoring of junior/mid-level software engineers.
Skills and Experience: - Demonstrated deep knowledge and hands-on software development experience using C#, .NET web applications, APIs, and Python.
- Proven experience working in AI, engineering labs, high-velocity R&D divisions, or startup-like environments (including personal coding projects, open-source contributions, or hackathons).
- Practical experience applying contemporary AI/ML software practices, code versioning, and deployed model monitoring to solve specific business challenges.
- Solid understanding of digital solution delivery, design patterns, and risk guardrails within a large corporate enterprise or Government IT environment.
- Demonstrated ability to automate cloud environments using IaC (Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, etc.).
- Adaptive, collaborative, and supportive team player with a passion for continuous learning and an understanding of AI safety principles.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
- Australian Citizenship is mandatory; candidates must be willing and able to successfully obtain a Baseline Security Clearance.
