Umberto Espresso Bar is a busy, much-loved local pasta bar in Thornbury that punches well above its weight.

We’re looking for a passionate Front of House Supervisor to join our ambitious team and help us keep pushing the venue forward.

This is a great opportunity for a seasoned hospo legend looking to step back from the intensity of full-time management, or an up-and-coming supervisor ready to take the next step and prove themselves.

The role

Working closely with our VM and AVM, you’ll play an important role in keeping the venue running smoothly and helping lead the team through busy services.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supervising and supporting the FOH team during service
• Taking an active leadership role during busy shifts
• Helping coordinate the floor and ensuring service runs smoothly
• Helping maintain high standards of service, presentation and hospitality
• Supporting team training and development
• Communicating clearly with the team and management
• Taking responsibility for the smooth operation of shifts when required

What we’re looking for

You’ll need to be someone who is confident taking charge of a busy service and comfortable being the person the team looks to when things get hectic.

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has previous hospitality supervisory experience
• Can confidently supervise a team during busy, high-pressure services
• Is calm, organised and solutions-focused when things don’t go to plan
• Can give clear direction while maintaining a positive and supportive team environment
• Has strong communication skills and leads by example
• Is proactive and willing to get stuck in wherever needed
• Has excellent attention to detail and high standards
• Can take ownership of a shift and make good decisions on the floor
• Has a genuine passion for hospitality and creating a great guest experience
• Has an interest in Italian food, wine and hospitality

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who enjoys leading a team and wants to play an active part in making great services happen.
