About the role
FENCER / FENCING INSTALLER — CASUAL | MELBOURNE
Civifence Pty Ltd | Commercial & Infrastructure Fencing | Melbourne, VIC
Immediate start | Casual | $45–$55 per hour + daily travel allowance (per Construction Award)
ABOUT US
Civifence is a Melbourne-based commercial fencing contractor specialising in fences, gates and bollards for the infrastructure and commercial sectors — councils, road and rail authorities, civil contractors, and private businesses. We've built our name on quality workmanship and a genuine can-do attitude, and we're looking for an experienced fencer to join our team and support a strong pipeline of work across Melbourne.
THE ROLE
We need a hands-on, capable fencer who can take a job from concept through to completion. You'll be trusted to read and interpret drawings and specifications, set out the fence line accurately, and carry the installation through every stage to a finished, quality product. You'll also liaise directly with clients on site and, where needed, help manage other staff to get the job done safely and efficiently.
Key responsibilities:
- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Accurately set out fence lines and gate/bollard locations
- Complete all stages of installation, start to finish, to a high standard
- Liaise professionally with clients and site representatives
- Assist in the on-site management/coordination of other crew as required
- Use apps and mobile devices for site documentation, checklists and communication
- Work safely in line with site rules and our safety standards
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Proven experience as a fencer in a commercial or infrastructure setting
- Ability to read and work from drawings and specifications unsupervised
- High standards and strong attention to detail — you take pride in delivering quality work for our clients
- A genuine can-do attitude and pride in your work
- Comfortable using smartphones and apps for day-to-day site tasks
- Your own reliable vehicle and current driver's licence
- Your own hand tools (Civifence will supply specialist tools and equipment for installations)
- Willingness to be engaged as a direct employee — sole traders/ABN engagement not available for this role
- Able to meet drug and alcohol testing requirements — a number of our sites are subject to random and/or pre-start D&A testing
Highly regarded (training available for the right candidate):
- Experience with chain mesh and weldmesh fencing
- Your own ute, ideally with towing capability
WHAT'S ON OFFER
- $45–$55 per hour based on experience, plus daily travel allowance in accordance with the Construction Award
- Casual role supporting a steady, ongoing pipeline of work around Melbourne
- Specialist tools and equipment provided to support your installations
- Training provided in additional fence types for the right candidate
- Join a supportive, safety-focused team with a strong reputation in the industry
