Technical Trainer - RTS

Downer Rail and Transit Systems Business Unit has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Trainer to join our team.

Our Rail & Transit Systems (RTS) business provides a range of end to end, innovative transport solutions including:
Rolling Stock Design, manufacture and maintenanceRolling Stock system engineering and integrationThrough Life Support engineering and maintenance servicesAs the technical trainer you will play a key role in our Rail & Transit Systems business at Auburn Maintenance Centre. Developing, delivering and evaluating technical training for current and upcoming projects in our Auburn Maintenance Centre facility. The role will be responsible for the orientation of new staff so that they have the knowledge and skills to undertake projects (e.g. overhauls, upgrades, testing and maintenance of fleets) under Downer's contractual obligations. You will assist in conducting training needs analysis, developing courses or sourcing appropriate external solutions, delivering training, assessing competence and administering courses/assessments.

Skills & Qualifications:
Relevant trade qualifications in mechanical and/or electrical streamsExperience working in a multi-disciplined technical environmentExperience with rolling stock would be highly desirableTeaching qualification to TAE 40116 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment or equivalent. Or the willingness to achieveKnowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel and Powerpoint)Knowledge of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) Quality Framework would be an advantageKnowledge of engineering processes, including failure-reporting and investigations.In this role you will have:
Minimum of 5 years in a relevant trade, rail industry experience highly regardedDemonstrated experience driving and shunting desirableDemonstrated experience creating, developing and delivering training,Makes effective and timely decisions in difficult or ambiguous situationsUnderstands and complies with basic HR regulations and lawsWhat we offer:
