About the Role
As an MPU Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Mobile Processing Units on site, ensuring explosive products are manufactured, transported and delivered in accordance with site procedures, legislative requirements and product specifications.
The role will include operating and maintaining the MPU, loading blast holes safely and efficiently, managing explosive products and completing all required documentation while working closely with Shotfirers, drill crews and site personnel.
Your responsibilities will include:
Safe operation of Mobile Processing Units
Loading blast holes in accordance with blast designs and site requirements
Correct handling and management of explosive products
Conducting pre-start and operational checks on the MPU
Monitoring product quality and ensuring correct product delivery
Managing explosive product quantities and usage
Completing accurate production, product and maintenance documentation
Carrying out routine cleaning and basic operator maintenance
Identifying and reporting equipment defects, hazards and issues
Working closely with Shotfirers and blast crews to meet production requirements
Maintaining compliance with site, company and legislative requirements
Promoting and maintaining a strong safety culture on site
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Current Australian Driver's Licence
Previous experience operating an MPU in a drill and blast environment
Dangerous Goods Security Card
Dangerous Goods Drivers Licence
Current National Police Clearance (issued within the last 3 months)
Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening
Full Australian working rights
Demonstrated experience in:
Safe operation of Mobile Processing Units
Loading blast holes and delivering explosive products
Explosive product handling and management
Conducting MPU pre-start and operational checks
Monitoring product quality and loading accuracy
Product and explosive stock control
Completing production and compliance documentation
Identifying equipment defects and reporting maintenance requirements
Working safely around heavy mobile equipment and blasting operations
Following blast designs, site procedures and instructions
Maintaining a clean and organised MPU and work area
