About the role
The South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service based in Bunbury which provides a variety of health services to Aboriginal people in the South West, Great South, Upper Wheatbelt and Peel Regions of Western Australia. SWAMS delivers a wide range of Services including GP Clinics, Primary Health Care, Counselling and community host various programs. SWAMS has a strong growth strategy through partnership opportunities and future community development.
SWAMS is dedicated to enhancing employment opportunities and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. This position is designated under Section 50D of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA), and as such, only Aboriginal people are eligible to apply.
SWAMS plays a crucial role in delivering services to the Peel community, aiming to reduce the number of Aboriginal children entering care. Through providing a culturally appropriate service to families at risk, we are deeply committed to ensuring that we advocate to keep Aboriginal children safe at home with their families.
The Coordinator will lead the establishment and ongoing delivery of the Stream 1 Program within the Regional Support Hub Bindjareb, providing oversight and support to two Case Workers. The role will ensure services are culturally appropriate, responsive to community needs, and delivered in accordance with SWAMS and Department of Communities requirements.
The Coordinator will oversee client record keeping, reporting obligations, and program outcomes, while also supporting the "Service Network" phone service to connect clients with the services and supports they need.
