Lead Document Controller

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Lead Document Controller to provide strategic leadership across document control and information management functions supporting major projects and business operations.

This is a senior role responsible for establishing best-practice document control standards, leading document control teams, managing information governance, and ensuring projects meet organisational, client and regulatory requirements.
You will play a key role in driving consistency, improving systems and processes, and developing document control capability across the business.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead document control and information management functions across multiple projects or business units.
• Develop and implement document management standards, procedures and governance frameworks.
• Ensure consistent and compliant document control practices across projects.
• Lead, coach and develop Document Controllers and Information Management personnel.
• Plan and allocate document control resources to support project requirements.
• Support project mobilisation, planning and delivery.
• Oversee the management of project records, documentation and information assets.
• Lead the implementation, optimisation and standardisation of document management systems.
• Drive digital transformation, system integration and process improvement initiatives.
• Develop performance reporting, metrics and continuous improvement frameworks.
• Act as the senior point of contact for document control and information management matters.
• Build strong relationships with project teams, clients and key stakeholders.
• Support client audits, reviews and information management requirements.
• Provide specialist advice on document control, governance and information management.
• Support workforce planning, succession planning and competency development.

About You To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Significant experience in document control, information management, project controls or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience leading document control functions across large or complex projects.
• Previous experience leading and developing document control teams.
• Advanced knowledge of electronic document management systems.
• Strong understanding of information governance, document control processes and compliance requirements.
• Experience managing document control resources across multiple projects or workstreams.
• Strong stakeholder and client management skills.
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
• A proactive approach to process improvement and operational excellence.

Desirable

• Formal qualifications in information management, records management, document control or a related discipline.
• Experience managing document control at a multi-project or program level.
• Experience implementing or improving enterprise document management systems.
• Experience within engineering, construction, infrastructure, resources or other project-based environments.
