Fly in Fly Out - Tyre Fitter

About the role

ODH Tyres Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled and dedicated Fly in Fly Out Tyre Fitter to join our team in Karratha, WA. This is a full-time position based on a fly in fly out arrangement two weeks on one week off, designed for professionals who are willing to work on roster-based schedules in a mining and resources environment. In this role, you will be responsible for fitting, balancing, and maintaining tyres on heavy equipment and vehicles used across mining operations. Your expertise will be critical in ensuring that all equipment is maintained to the highest safety standards and remains operational, minimising downtime and maximising productivity for our clients. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work with industry-leading equipment and contribute to the safe and efficient operation of mining sites.

Key responsibilities

• Fitting and dismounting tyres on heavy mining equipment, vehicles, and machinery of various sizes

• Balancing tyres and wheels to ensure optimal performance and safety standards

• Conducting routine inspections and maintenance of tyres and related equipment

• Repairing damaged or punctured tyres and performing retreading where applicable

• Maintaining accurate records of all tyre maintenance and repairs undertaken

• Ensuring all work complies with relevant safety regulations and industry standards

• Operating and maintaining tyre fitting equipment and machinery safely and effectively

• Communicating with supervisors and site personnel to prioritise maintenance schedules

• Contributing to a safe working environment by adhering to all site safety protocols and procedures

• Supporting colleagues and collaborating as part of a team to meet operational targets

What we're looking for

• A recognised certificate qualification in tyre fitting

• Rio Tinto Inducted

• Must pass pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening

• Proven experience as a tyre fitter, preferably in mining, resources, or heavy equipment industries

• Proficiency in operating tyre fitting and balancing equipment

• Strong knowledge of different tyre types and their applications in heavy machinery

• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety standards

• The ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

• Physical fitness and the capacity to perform manual labour in demanding conditions

• A valid driver's licence and willingness to participate in fly in fly out arrangements

• Flexibility to work on roster-based schedules, including potential weekend and night shifts

• Excellent communication skills and a professional attitude

• Desirable: Experience with heavy haul or specialised tyre applications in mining operations
