About the role
St Spyridon College is an independent, co-educational school with a strong commitment to the delivery of a rigorous academic program with a personalised learning approach that helps students find their passion and reach their potential. We are currently seeking an innovative and enthusiastic Science teacher to join our secondary teaching team from Term 4, 2026. The successful candidate must have a commitment to academic excellence and be able to demonstrate their capacity to deliver a rigorous academic program.
Success Criteria:
The successful applicant will:
Be able to contribute to the strong academic culture of the school environment
Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs
Use relevant technology to support instruction
Observe and evaluate student's performance and development
Be willing to use student data effectively to inform teaching practice
Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs
Undertake other duties as required by the Head of College or her delegate
The successful candidate will possess the following core competencies:
Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Education and Science.
NESA Accreditation and eligibility to teach in New South Wales.
A strong understanding of evidence-based teaching practice and curriculum differentiation.
Proven ability to use student achievement data to improve learning outcomes.
High expectations for student achievement and behaviour.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively within a professional learning community.
Strong classroom management skills.
Professional presentation, integrity and a commitment to continuous professional learning.
A willingness to actively support the ethos, values and mission of St Spyridon College.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must hold or be eligible to obtain:
NESA Accreditation.
NSW Working With Children Check (WWCC).
Current National Criminal History Check (or willingness to obtain).
Current First Aid and CPR qualifications (desirable).
Full Australian working rights.
