About the role
Tenterfield Bowling Club is a welcoming, community-focused bowling club offering lawn bowls, member services, functions, events and social activities. Reporting to the Board, the General Manager will provide hands-on leadership across the Club’s operations, people, finances, compliance and member experience. This role suits someone experienced in hospitality, venue or club leader who can balance the day-to-day operational responsibilities with long-term planning and sustainable growth.
Lead the day-to-day operations of the Club, across administration, finance, hospitality, bowls activities, facilities, and suppliers.
Deliver a welcoming, professional and consistent experience for members, visitors, volunteers, sports groups and community partners.
Work with the Board to develop and implement business plans, budgets, policies and operational priorities.
Manage staff rosters, performance, training, workplace culture and compliance requirements.
Oversee financial controls, cash handling, reporting, purchasing, stock control and cost management.
Ensure compliance with relevant liquor, gaming, work health and safety, employment, privacy and registered club requirements.
Identify opportunities to grow revenue through membership, functions, events, barefoot bowls, sponsorships and community engagement.
Maintain Club facilities, equipment and presentation standards, coordinating repairs and improvements as required.
Prepare reports for Board meetings and provide clear, practical advice on operational matters.
About You
Experience managing a club, hospitality venue, licensed premises, sporting organisation or comparable community venue.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate staff, support volunteers and build positive relationships with members and guests.
Sound financial acumen, including budgeting, reporting, stock control and cost management.
Excellent communication, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
Practical knowledge of compliance obligations for licensed venues, including responsible service of alcohol, gaming, work health and safety and employment practices.
High standards of integrity, professionalism, confidentiality and customer service.
Confidence using point-of-sale, rostering, accounting and Microsoft Office systems.
Essential Requirements
Current Responsible Service of Alcohol qualification.
Current Responsible Conduct of Gambling qualification, where gaming operations apply.
Demonstrated understanding of licensed club compliance and governance expectations.
Availability to work flexible hours, including some evenings, weekends and key Club events.
National Police Check, or willingness to obtain one if requested.
Desirable
Experience working with a Board, Committee or not-for-profit sporting club structure.
Experience managing functions, events, catering, sponsorships or community partnerships.
Knowledge of lawn bowls operations, member competitions and volunteer coordination.
Relevant qualifications in hospitality management, business, leadership or club management.
