Operations Manager - Electrical Services

About the role

The Operations Manager is the connective tissue of the business, running job coordination, people, safety, documentation, technology and client communication day to day. You're the point where office and field meet, keeping every job on track and every system working as hard as the team does.

This is a hands-on role for someone who thinks fast, prioritises well and enjoys the pace of a growing business. You'll bring your own systems and ideas, not follow a rigid playbook, and see the direct impact of your work as we scale. For the right person, there's a genuine path to General Management, with visibility to the Board Chair and CFO.

Key responsibilities

Job Coordination & Site Readiness

• Coordinate scheduling across project and service work with PMs and the field team

• Confirm site access, inductions and time slots before every job starts, catching gaps early

People, Safety & Compliance

• Run recruitment end-to-end: sourcing, screening, onboarding

• Own HR administration, training plans and licence/ticket registers with expiry tracking

• Own OHSE administration and safety records, with QA oversight on SWMS lodgement

• Support and develop a direct report who owns O&M manuals, SWMS and platform uploads

Documentation, Technology & Systems

• Maintain project file structures and support O&M manual completion

• Own software subscriptions, system access and hardware, as first point of contact for issues

• Lead automation and systems improvements, including AI opportunities, from scoping through to build

Client Experience & Business Operations

• Keep clients updated and respond to queries directly and promptly

• Oversee office administration, fleet upkeep and materials/stock levels

• Track and resolve supplier credits and returns
  

About you

• Fast-paced and adaptable, thrives juggling multiple priorities and adjusts quickly when plans change

• Sharp and proactive, picks up new systems fast and gets ahead of what's coming

• Organised and hands-on, keeps on top of the detail and isn't afraid to get into the work

• A clear communicator and confident delegator, comfortable with clients, tradespeople and leadership alike

• Construction or electrical experience is a bonus, not a requirement

We're a trusted, growing electrical services group operating across Victoria from Melbourne's northern suburbs, working across commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects. Our work spans Project Delivery (tendered construction projects) and Service & Maintenance (ongoing client site work).

Who you'll work alongside

You won't be doing this alone. PMs own their own project delivery, the Accounts Manager owns receivables and bookkeeping, and estimating owns quoting. Your direct report (5+ years with the business) handles O&M manuals, SWMS and platform uploads day to day, with you providing guidance and QA. Senior leadership retains final hiring, quote sign-off and major client relationships, with day-to-day execution in your hands.

Your first 90 days

• Site readiness and inductions running smoothly, office and field in sync

• Licence and ticket register fully up to date, ahead of any expiry risk

• At least one automation opportunity scoped and moving toward implementation
