Domestic Services Assistant (Cleaner)

ABOUT BETHANY CHRISTIAN CARE:

Bethany Christian Care is a not-for-profit aged care provider established in 1949. We have two facilities: The Plains Retirement Village at Eight Mile Plains and Janoah Gardens Retirement Village at Manly West. 

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The position exists to provide a high standard of quality domestic services, which meet the individual needs, choices and preferences of residents.

Domestic services are to be delivered, respecting the resident’s dignity, identity, culture, diversity, privacy and dignity of risk.

DUTIES

• Complete routine and project cleaning tasks according to established cleaning schedules. Cleaning tasks include but are not limited to mopping and vacuuming floors; damp dusting, waste management; and restocking of supplies.

• Ensure timely and effective cleaning of resident rooms and common areas (Aged Care and Serviced Apartments), including the appropriate disposal of waste.

• Ensure timely and effective cleaning of staff working areas and Village / Facility public access areas, including the appropriate disposal of waste.

• Timely and effective cleaning of equipment used, in a professional and hygienic manner and in-keeping with manufacturer's specifications or departmental procedures.

• Ensure adequate supplies of toilet paper, hand towels, soap, sanitiser and other consumables are available for resident, visitor and staff use.

• Record the completion of cleaning schedule tasks as per the cleaning schedule, and / or as instructed.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

• Availability to work Monday to Sunday morning shifts, with flexibility to extend shifts, work additional days, and work across both facilities.

• Ability to work in alignment with our Christian values.

• Clear and confident communication skills.

• Previous cleaning experience in commercial, health care, or aged care settings is desirable but not essential.

• Enjoys working efficiently and independently with minimal supervision.
