Children and Youth Pastor

About the role

The Next Generations Pastor will provide spiritual, pastoral and strategic leadership for the children, youth and families of Highfields Church of Christ. This is both a pastoral and pioneering role—strengthening an established Kids ministry while building a sustainable Youth ministry for the future. This part-time role (3 days per week) is centred on Sunday ministry and discipleship. You will support our existing Kids ministry while leading the development and launch of a Youth ministry.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight to Kids and Youth ministries

• Disciple and build relationships with children, young people and families

• Recruit, equip and support volunteers

• Partner with parents in the discipleship of their children

• Develop pathways from Kids ministry into Youth and from Youth into the wider life of the church

• Ensure ministries are safe, sustainable and well organised

• Commitment to following, implement and help improve our church safe guarding policies

• Work collaboratively with the Lead Pastors and wider church team

About you

• A committed and growing follower of Jesus with a heart for the next generation

• Relational and able to connect with children, young people and families

• A leader who equips and encourages others

• Able to teach the Bible in an engaging and age-appropriate way

• Organised and able to manage a part-time workload

• Able to work well within a team

• Alignment with the beliefs and values of Highfields Church of Christ

• Current Queensland Blue Card, or ability to obtain one prior to commencing child-related work

• Demonstrated experience leading or significantly contributing to Kids and/or Youth ministry, including developing volunteers or ministry teams
