Ward Clerk - IONA

We are seeking a Ward Clerk to work in a part time (16 hours/fortnight) capacity based at Iona Digby Harris Home Nhill.

ABOUT THE ROLE

• The Ward Clerk provides frontline reception across the aged care facility. The position performs a range of administrative support tasks to assist and ensure the efficient functioning of the Health Service.
• The Ward Clerk is required to be discreet, work well under pressure and promote a professional and caring environment through excellent customer service, and have a good working relationship with the Nurse Unit Manager and nursing staff.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIAEssential:

• Have effective communication and organisational skills.
• The ability to work in a highly productive environment with time pressures whilst managing multiple tasks.
• Demonstrate the ability to communicate with the public and a high level of customer service skills.
• Demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.

Desirable:

• Cert III in Business Administration or similar is desirable.
• A sound knowledge of medical terminology.
• Nursing background, but not essential.

PRE-REQUISITES:

• NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
• Working with Children Check.
• Fully vaccinated (including influenza) as per current Department of Health Directives.
• Australian Driver’s License.

KEY RESPONSBILITIES

• Assist the Nurse Unit Manager to implement and maintain streamlined
  administration processes.
• Assist with the support and orientation of new staff members.
• Ensure all residents are correctly documented within their relevant software systems.
• Manage enquiries from clients, families, and members of the community.
