Bayside Health was formed following the merger of Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health Service and Peninsula Health on 1 January 2026.
The Team & Role
Special Care Nursery (SCN) is a 12 cot ward which provides care for premature, sick and at times critically ill babies.
The ward clerk is an integral part of the SCN team working closely with the nurse in charge.
You will be responsible for presenting a professional, welcoming and informative reception to parents and visitors within the unit and liaise with families to obtain essential information for patient admissions. Working both independently and as part of the SCN team, you will provide efficient and effective general clerical support always respecting confidentiality and prioritising the workload depending on the ward activity.
The ward clerk may be required to communicate with SCN ward clerks and members of the multidisciplinary team such as medical staff, social work, physios, speech therapists, the radiology department and other ward clerks within the Women’s, Children and Adolescent Health cluster.
Skills & Experience Required
• Ward clerk experience at administrative level
• Enjoys combining administrative processes and consumer interaction.
• Clearly explains information and listens to feedback and uses a polite and considerate manner when dealing with others.
• Demonstrated competency in medical terminology.
• Experience with the program iPM
• Strong verbal, writing and typing skills
• Working with Children’s Check
