About the role
You prioritise the safety of yourself and others at work, both physically and mentally.
You've been developing your skills and are ready to work on projects that matter to the people of NSW. You know that quality matters and that delivering results requires a great team.
In this role, you'll:
Be part of a team responsible for delivering key implementations across the Operational Technology Optical Fibre and Copper Cable Networks.
You will utilise your experience and technical knowledge to assist with the maintenance and support of these networks, ensuring high availability and performance. Working closely with your Supervisor, Project Managers, and Cable Network Specialists at ICON, you will contribute to the reliable operation of critical communications infrastructure.
Your responsibilities will include undertaking scheduled preventative maintenance, as well as responding to network faults and emergencies as they arise.
The position is based in Granville; however, extensive travel is required. You will work across the NSW network and gain the opportunity to learn and support the broader Sydney Trains communications network.
The standard hours are 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Flexibility is essential, as weekend work and overtime will be required from time to time.
This is a permanent, full-time position, with participation in a 24/7 on-call roster when required.
For more details, please refer to the role description and information pack.
About you
You will have previous experience working with Optical Fibre and Copper Networks and be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of communications network infrastructure.
You'll be highly skilled at copper communications copper cable jointing up 200 prs and preparing optical fibre joint enclosures and terminations for 288 fibres and testing/faults of both copper & optical fibre cables.
You can confidently read and interpret circuit diagrams and accurately apply this information in the field—for example, understanding fibre paths and core allocations.
You hold a current ACMA Cabling Licence and a valid Class C Driver's Licence.
