The RoleWe're looking for an experienced process or chemical engineer to lead the development of technical requirements and design specifications for future Defence explosive ordnance disposal and demilitarisation capability. This includes confined burn and confined detonation systems, demilitarisation facilities and pollution abatement systems.You'll play a key role in shaping how these capabilities are engineered — running options analysis, defining performance parameters, and working closely with Defence, industry and regulators to get the technical detail right.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead development of technical requirements and preliminary design specifications for future disposal and demilitarisation capabilityConduct engineering trade studies and options analysis, defining key performance parametersProvide process engineering expertise across thermal treatment, combustion and emissions/pollution abatement systemsSupport process safety assessments for hazardous facilities, including HAZOP/HAZID risk reviewsEngage with Defence, industry, regulators and environmental authorities on technical matters
RequiredChemical Degree-qualified engineer with a minimum of 8 years' relevant chemical or process engineering experienceExperience in Thermal treatment systems combustion systems, industrial waste treatmentemissions management and pollution abatement systemsExperience with thermal treatment/combustion systems, industrial waste treatment and pollution abatementExperience in hazardous process facility safety, including HAZOP/HAZID risk assessmentKnowledge of explosive ordnance and munitions processing/demilitarisation, with strong stakeholder engagement skillsINCOSE Systems Engineering certification (desirable)
