Experienced Barista - Permanent Part Time

20–30 hours per week | 3–4 days | Weekend availability required

DNA Espresso Bar, located within Hawthorne Garage, is looking for an experienced barista to join our team on a permanent part-time basis.

This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced neighbourhood venue with loyal customers and high standards. You’ll spend most of your time producing consistently excellent coffee, while also helping with customer service, café food and the daily flow of the espresso bar.

We’re looking for someone who brings skill, speed and good energy—and who understands that great hospitality is about more than what’s in the cup.

As one of our baristas, you will:

• Produce consistently high-quality espresso coffee

• Dial in the grinder and monitor extraction throughout the day

• Deliver excellent milk texture, presentation and workflow

• Maintain speed and composure during busy service periods

• Greet customers warmly and create a positive local experience

• Assist with café food, cabinet presentation and counter service

• Keep the coffee station clean, stocked and service-ready

• Support the wider café and deli team whenever needed

• Follow food-safety, hygiene and workplace-safety standards

• Help drive sales through strong product knowledge and thoughtful recommendations

You’ll be well suited to this role if you have:

• At least two years’ experience in a busy, high-volume café

• Strong espresso, extraction and milk-texturing skills

• The ability to produce quality coffee quickly and consistently

• A warm, confident approach to customer service

• An organised and calm working style during peak periods

• A willingness to assist with food, counter service and cleaning

• Pride in presentation, cleanliness and attention to detail

• A reliable, team-first attitude

• Availability across 3–4 days, including weekends
