About the role
About the Organisation
Our client is a leading provider of metering and data services, operating at the intersection of technology, service and sustainability to support the energy and resource transition across Australia. The organisation delivers smarter infrastructure solutions that serve resource retailers, networks and end consumers, underpinned by a commitment to reliable and accurate measurement, data and insights that a sustainable energy future depends on.
The organisation is guided by values of Safety, Team, Customer, Innovation and Accountability.
About the Role
This is a build-it-yourself role for someone who would rather design the function than inherit one. There is no existing playbook to follow: you will write the procurement, property and fleet strategy from a blank page, deciding what governance looks like, which suppliers deserve a seat at the table, and how the organisation buys everything from enterprise software to company vehicles.
Expect variety by design. In the same fortnight you might be running a competitive tender for a technology platform, negotiating a fleet leasing arrangement, and coordinating an office fit-out, all while advising the CFO on where the next commercial risk is likely to surface. It is equal parts strategist and doer: you will need to be as comfortable drafting a governance framework as you are sitting across the table from a supplier.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will work closely with Finance, Legal, Technology and operational leaders to build procurement, property and fleet capabilities that are fit for a lean, fast-moving organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Establish and continuously improve the Procurement, Property & Fleet function, including governance, policies, processes and controls.
Lead end-to-end sourcing and market engagement, including RFPs, RFQs, EOIs, supplier evaluations and contract negotiations.
Establish and manage supplier relationship and contract management frameworks to drive value-for-money outcomes.
Lead property procurement, workplace establishment and facilities management activities, including office fit-outs and relocations.
Develop and oversee fleet management arrangements, including vehicle acquisition, leasing, maintenance and compliance.
Act as a trusted advisor to the Executive Leadership Team on procurement, property and fleet matters.
About You
You have spent a decade or more in procurement, sourcing or commercial management, and at some point on that journey, you have built a function rather than just running one: writing the frameworks, setting the governance, and bringing skeptical stakeholders along with you. Formal qualifications in procurement, commerce, business, finance or law rounds out that experience.
You are just as capable of negotiating a complex technology or SaaS contract as you are managing a fleet supplier or a facilities provider, and you know how to read a room, whether that room is a boardroom or a supplier's negotiating table. Ambiguity does not unsettle you; if anything, it is where you do your best work, because you would rather build the right process than wait for someone to hand you one.
Above all, you bring sound judgement, a steady hand with sensitive commercial information, and the kind of stakeholder instincts that let you influence decisions without needing to pull rank. Experience in energy, utilities or another regulated industry will help you hit the ground running, but what matters most is your appetite to build something from first principles.
Why Apply?
This is a rare opportunity to build a procurement, property and fleet function from the ground up, with genuine scope to shape strategy, governance and outcomes at an executive level.
How to Apply
If you are an experienced procurement leader who thrives in a lean, fast-paced environment and enjoys building capability from the ground up, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your application, including your resume and a cover letter addressing the key requirements of the role.
This organisation is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from all backgrounds.
