About the role
Cranbrook School is seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Senior School Health Centre. This is a casual, school term-time position based at our Senior School campus in Bellevue Hill.
The Senior School Health Centre operates seven days per week, from 7.00am to 9.30pm. The successful applicant will be required to have availability to work Friday evenings and weekends during school term. There may also be opportunities to provide nursing support at the Junior School campus, as well as assist with school camps, including CITF, and school events when required.
ABOUT THE POSITION
The Registered Nurse provides high-quality health care to Senior School students, including both day students and boarders, as well as emergency first aid care to staff and visitors.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing nursing care and first aid to students, staff and visitors
Monitoring students with identified health risks and special health requirements
Administering medications in accordance with School procedures
Providing appropriate wellbeing support to students
Maintaining accurate and confidential student health records
Undertaking administrative tasks associated with the operation of the Health Centre
Responding appropriately to medical emergencies and incidents
Liaising with students, parents, guardians, colleagues and members of the wider School community
Providing support at school camps, including CITF, and School events when required.
The successful applicant will be expected to work professionally and collaboratively within the School community, while also demonstrating the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement in a busy health care environment.
ABOUT YOU
You are an experienced Registered Nurse with a genuine interest in supporting the health, wellbeing and welfare of young people. Experience working in a school environment, community health or a similar setting will be highly regarded.
You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and are confident liaising with students, parents, guardians, colleagues and members of the community. You are reliable, professional and well organised, with the ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
You will demonstrate a compassionate and student-focused approach, together with a strong understanding of confidentiality and professional nursing practice.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Registered Nurse with current registration certified by AHPRA
Experience in nursing practice within a school environment or community health setting
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to build positive relationships and liaise effectively with students, parents, guardians, staff and members of the wider School community
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to remain calm, professional and composed under pressure
Strong organisational and administrative skills, including accurate maintenance of health records
Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications
Current NSW Working with Children Check clearance
Flexibility and availability to work Friday evenings and weekends during school term
Willingness to assist with school camps, including CITF, and School events when required
A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
A demonstrated understanding of child safety and appropriate behaviours when engaging with students.
