We're looking for a reliable, capable male support worker to join our Cairns team across Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Community Support services. Our participants have specifically requested male support, and we want someone who brings professionalism, consistency, and real warmth to the role — someone who helps people feel safe and supported at home while building independence, confidence, and stronger community connections.

THE ROLE
Working across SIL households and community settings, you'll provide:

• Personal care and daily living support

• Support within shared/supported living homes, including household routines and shift handover

• Community access, transport, and social participation

• Meal preparation and household tasks

• Skill-building and independence goals

• Delivering support in line with individual plans and behaviour strategies

• Monitoring wellbeing and escalating concerns promptly

• Accurate, professional shift documentation and progress notes

• Maintaining dignity, privacy, and clear professional boundaries in a shared home environment

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• A dependable track record — participants, families, and housemates need to trust you'll show up

• Patience, respect, and a genuinely person-centered approach

• Confidence working independently in a home-based setting, without close supervision

• Strong communication skills, written and verbal, including handover and shift notes

• A serious commitment to participant safety and wellbeing

Experience or qualifications in Disability, Individual Support, or Community Services will be highly regarded — particularly experience in SIL settings, complex needs, behaviour support, medication support, or high-intensity care.

Highly regarded (not essential): experience supporting individuals with mental health conditions and/or Forensic Orders will be considered a strong advantage.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance

• Australian Driver Licence

• Current First Aid & CPR

• NDIS Worker Orientation Module

• Working with Children Check (where applicable)

• Willingness to work rostered shifts, including the possibility of evenings, weekends, or overnight support (as required by SIL rosters)

• Any additional training required by TruCare QLD
