Housing and Homelessness Support Worker

Community Action Inc has a (Fixed-term Contract) position available for commencement immediately (no qualifications or experience necessary). 

• Fixed-term Contract for immediate start through to 30/06/2028

• 38 hours per week (Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm).

• Industry Standard: Covered under the SCHADS award.

Purpose of Position:

The successful candidate will work within our dedicated Immediate Housing Response team (IHR) to provide short-term temporary accommodation, motel placements, and crisis support to eligible individuals, couples or families who are experiencing homelessness and have exhausted all other housing options. The Immediate Housing Response team (IHR) are committed to working collaboratively with local housing service centres and assisting community members to transition into longer-term housing solutions.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Providing accommodation and structured case-managed support to homeless and at-risk community members.

• Maintain accurate client records and case notes.

Mandatory Requirements:

• Current Blue Card for working with children or ability to acquire same.

• Current Driver’s Licence.

• Eligibility to work in Australia. 

Desirable Attributes

• A qualification in Community Services, Social Work, or a relevant discipline.

• Previous experience supporting people experiencing crisis, trauma, or socioeconomic disadvantage.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to build positive, respectful relationships.

• A genuine, empathetic commitment to helping vulnerable individuals achieve positive life outcomes.
