Horizon Therapy Services is a multidisciplinary allied health practice supporting children, young people and families across the ACT and surrounding regions. Our team includes Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Behaviour Support Practitioners, Early Childhood Specialists and Allied Health Assistants who work collaboratively to help children participate successfully at home, school and in their community.

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Registered Psychologist with General AHPRA Registration to join our growing multidisciplinary team.

About the Role

This position is ideal for a psychologist who enjoys working with school-aged children and values flexibility, autonomy and work-life balance.

The role involves providing psychological support to children within their school environments, with appointments scheduled geographically to minimise travel and maximise efficiency. For example, one day may focus on schools within Gungahlin, another within Belconnen, and another within Woden.

The position is currently offered at three days per week, with potential for additional days as the service expands.

What Your Week Will Look Like

Working Hours: 9:00am – 5:00pm (three days per week of your choice)

Client Contact: 9:00am – 1:30pm

• Four children seen per day
• School-based service delivery
• Travel between schools within a designated geographical region

Administration and Planning: 1:30pm – 5:00pm

• Work from home
• Complete case notes and documentation
• Session planning and resource development
• Liaison with families, schools and other clinicians as required

Current Caseload

You will be joining an established multidisciplinary practice with an existing referral base. Children currently accessing services present with needs including:

• Anxiety and emotional regulation difficulties
• Social confidence and self-esteem challenges
• Negative thought patterns affecting participation and engagement
• Maladaptive coping strategies
• Emotional wellbeing concerns
• School avoidance
• Task avoidance and reduced engagement in learning
• Social participation difficulties
• Behavioural challenges impacting daily functioning

The focus of intervention is to support children to participate successfully in everyday activities, education, relationships and community life.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct psychological assessments and interventions for school-aged children
• Develop and implement evidence-based therapeutic supports
• Work collaboratively with Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Behaviour Support Practitioners and educators
• Provide consultation and recommendations to families and schools
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and records
• Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and clinical support activities
• Contribute to positive outcomes for children and families

Essential Requirements

• General Registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA
• Eligibility to work independently as a registered psychologist
• Experience working with children and adolescents
• Current Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration (or ability to obtain)
• Current National Police Check (or ability to obtain)
• Current driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a multidisciplinary team

Pay: $103,000.00 per year
