Funeral Planner and Funeral Directors Assistant (Asian Division)

About the role

Tobin Brothers Funerals is seeking a compassionate and professional Funeral Planner/Funeral Directors Assistant to join our Asian Division in Noble Park, VIC. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in supporting families during one of their most difficult times. As a customer-facing professional, you will be the bridge between grieving families and our funeral directors, ensuring that every family receives personalised, dignified, and supportive service. This role is instrumental in delivering our commitment to excellence and care, making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.

Key responsibilities

• Greeting families with warmth and empathy, listening to their needs and preferences for funeral services

• Assisting families in planning and arranging funerals, including discussing service options, venues, and personalised touches

• Providing detailed information about our funeral packages, products, and services in a clear and compassionate manner

• Coordinating with funeral directors and support staff to ensure all arrangements are executed seamlessly

• Managing administrative tasks including documentation, scheduling, and record-keeping related to funeral arrangements

• Liaising with families regarding timelines, costs, and any special requests or requirements

• Offering guidance on legal requirements, permits, and other procedural matters

• Supporting funeral directors during services and ceremonies as required

• Maintaining detailed records and ensuring all information is accurately documented and communicated

• Providing follow-up care and support to families after the funeral service

What we're looking for

• Demonstrated experience in customer service or a similar client-facing role

• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to convey empathy and professionalism in sensitive situations

• Strong organisational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple family arrangements simultaneously

• Attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when managing administrative tasks and important documentation

• The ability to remain calm and supportive under pressure whilst maintaining composure during emotionally challenging situations

• Proficiency with computer systems and administrative software

• A respectful and non-judgmental approach to working with diverse families from all backgrounds and beliefs

• Reliability and discretion, with the ability to maintain confidentiality at all times

• Flexibility to support services and ceremonies outside standard working hours when necessary

• Fluent in Mandarin verbal and written communication. Verbal and written fluency in Cantonese would be advantageous.
