Production Team Leader

Greenhills Propagation Nursery in Tynong is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and hands-on Production Team Leader to lead our daily propagation activities and help produce high-quality young plants on schedule. This is a working leadership role suited to someone who enjoys being on the floor with the team, solving practical nursery challenges, and taking pride in consistent plant quality.

You will supervise the propagation team, oversee cuttings and tissue culture production, maintain strong hygiene and safety standards, and support continuous improvement across propagation methods, workflow and plant success rates.

·         Lead, supervise and support the propagation team in daily nursery operations.

·         Liaise with other departments to plan and carry out weekly propagation schedules to meet production targets.

·         Oversee propagation of cuttings and tissue culture plant material.

·         Monitor propagation material for quality, suitability, consistency and plant health.

·         Train team members in our propagation techniques, hygiene, safety procedures and quality standards.

·         Maintain a clean, organised and safe propagation area, including tools, benches and workspaces.

·         Keep accurate records of batches and production requirements.

·         Identify opportunities to improve productivity, cutting strike rates and overall plant quality.

·         Work closely with nursery management to coordinate priorities, labour needs and production timelines.

We are looking for someone who is reliable, practical, team focused and results driven. You will bring strong attention to detail, a positive leadership style, and the confidence to guide others while remaining actively involved in the work.

·         Experience in nursery production or a similar horticultural role an advantage, but not essential.

·         Previous experience leading, supervising or training a team.

·         Ability to follow current propagation methods, hygiene and quality control.

·         Ability to plan work, manage priorities and meet production deadlines.

·         Good communication skills and a supportive, team-focused approach.

·         Excellent attention to detail.

·         Physically fit and comfortable working in a hands-on nursery environment.

·         A proactive attitude and willingness to contribute ideas for improvement.
