About the Role

The Friends’ School invites applications from an inspiring and dedicated Teacher of Humanities to join our Senior School team, commencing January 2027. We are seeking an educator who is passionate about teaching Humanities across Years 9 to 12, with the ability to engage and challenge students who inspires and engages students in learning Humanities.

The successful applicant will be committed to innovative teaching practices, delivering programs that align with the Australian Curriculum, Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE), and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), while contributing positively to the School’s Quaker ethos.

This is an ongoing, full-time position.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach Humanities to students from years 9 to 12 and years 7 and 8 if required.
• Be a teacher who inspires and engages students in learning Humanities.
• Actively participate in developing programs for Humanities from Years 7 to 12 that are in keeping with the Australian Curriculum, Tasmanian Certificate of Education, International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and the syllabus guidelines at The Friends' School.
• Work in a team of dedicated Humanities teachers and participate in a collaborative working environment.
• Participate in the pastoral care system, normally by being a tutor for a group of students.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements

• Appropriate tertiary qualifications in education and English teaching.
   
• Current or eligibility for Teachers Registration Board Tasmania registration.
   
• Current Working with Vulnerable People registration (employment category) and a recent National Police Check.
   
• Strong understanding of the Australian Curriculum and contemporary teaching methodologies.
   
• Commitment to pastoral care, co-curricular involvement, and professional learning.
   
• Alignment with the Purpose & Concerns, Learning Principles, and ethos of The Friends’ School.
