Asset & Sustainability Planning Officer, Clerk Grade 5/6, Wollongong

• Play a key role in strengthening asset management and sustainability outcomes for a volunteer-based emergency service protecting the communities of NSW
• Full-time, ongoing opportunity contributing to Net Zero, climate risk and asset planning initiatives as part of a collaborative, purpose-driven team
• Location: Based at the NSW SES State Headquarters in Wollongong with hybrid work arrangement of 3 days in the office

About the opportunity
The Asset & Sustainability Planning Officer supports the delivery of asset management and sustainability activities across the NSW SES asset portfolio, including the development and review of asset management plans, Net Zero and sustainability initiatives, climate-related planning and governance reporting. Reporting to the Manager, Asset Management and Sustainability, you will coordinate input from asset owners and stakeholders, provide secretariat support to the Climate Risk Working Group, and help maintain accurate, auditable records to inform planning and investment decisions. Working within a small, close-knit team, you will collaborate broadly across the agency, gaining exposure to asset and sustainability practice in a fast-paced, state-wide organisation.

About you
To be successful in this role you will:

• be proficient in building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, internal and external, including government agencies and subject matter experts;
• bring strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret information and apply critical thinking to inform recommendations and advice;
• be organised and adaptable, with the ability to plan, prioritise and respond to competing deadlines in a busy, state-wide work environment;
• communicate confidently and effectively, both written and verbal, including preparing reports, briefing notes and correspondence for a range of audiences.

2. This role requires you to research and interpret information from a range of sources to inform recommendations, often in a changing policy environment. Give an example of how you have applied critical thinking to analyse information and develop practical advice or recommendations.
