Your new role
The Student Support Officer is responsible for supporting students through both face-to-face and online delivery modes, ensuring the students remain engaged and connected throughout their learning journey. This role will be specifically working towards a new course being developed - Certificate IV in Community Development with a focus on domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV) work. This role works within the Academic Team and is responsible for:
Providing culturally safe, student-centered support throughout the student lifecycle
Establishing and maintain positive relationships with students
Conducting regular student check-ins via phone, Teams, email, face-to-face interactions and the Student Management System (Wisenet)
Monitoring and supporting attendance, participation, progression and engagement
Identifying students at risk and implementing support strategies
Maintaining accurate student contact and support records
Supporting student wellbeing through referral pathways where appropriate
Providing on-campus support during workshops, training sessions and intensive delivery blocks
Assisting students with navigation of learning resources and assessment requirements
Supporting trainers with classroom administration and student engagement activities
Assisting with student orientation and onboarding activities
Organising travel and accommodation and catering
Assisting with the collection and collation of student data and documentation required by training regulators and funding bodies
Correctly entering and maintaining student data in the Student Management System (Wisenet).
Scheduling live assessments
Administering the Class Rolls for students attending training on campus
Administering Student Evaluation Forms
What you will need to succeed
3+ years of experience in previous roles which included:
Working in a team with shared accountability for student success
Supporting Indigenous students
Computer skills including the ability to use spreadsheets, online meetings, word-processing programs and a Student Management System
Evidence of the ability to implement policies and procedures
Evidence of the ability to refer to staff in specialist areas where required
