About the role
We're seeking a motivated and results-driven Civil Estimator to join our growing team in Tamworth, NSW.
In this role, you'll take ownership of preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil construction projects — including earthworks, Stormwater drainage, subdivisions, and commercial developments.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who understands civil delivery, knows how to price smart, and wants to contribute directly to AMB Earthworks' success.
Prepare detailed tender submissions and cost estimates using CostX
Analyse project drawings, specifications, and scopes to determine accurate quantities and pricing
Source and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes
Work collaboratively with the operations team to validate production rates and methods
Identify risks, opportunities, and value-engineering options in each tender
Support tender reviews, bid/no-bid decisions, and post-tender clarifications
Maintain and refine databases for plant, material, and labour rates
Participate in post-tender feedback and continuous improvement of pricing systems
Willing to relocate to Tamworth
Minimum 5 years' experience in civil estimating (earthworks, quarry, drainage, or subdivisions)
Proven tender win rate and ability to price competitively in the NSW civil market
Proficiency in CostX and strong Microsoft Excel skills
Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and scope documents
High attention to detail and accuracy in estimating and documentation
Strong commercial awareness and understanding of civil productivity and costs
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Team-focused approach with the ability to work collaboratively and meet deadlines
Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent (preferred)
Current driver's licence
Australian permanent residency status is required at the time of application
