Amentum is on the lookout for experienced and passionate professional drivers to join our dynamic team.  As a Transport Specialist, you will play a critical role in coordinating and optimising transport operations.

About the Role:
As a Transport Specialist, you will be integral to ensuring the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of transportation services that support the Joint Defence Facility Pine Gap (JDFPG) and the surrounding areas. Your primary responsibilities include operating transport assets such as buses, trucks, and material handling equipment to deliver personnel, goods, and materials efficiently

In addition, Transport Specialist provides logistical support, including loading and unloading cargo, operating heavy machinery where qualified, supporting special events and assisting with warehouse activities where necessary. They also play a vital role in vehicle care by performing pre-inspections and ensure vehicles are maintained, cleaned, and refueled as required. 

With a strong focus on safety and customer satisfaction, the Transport Specialist delivers a professional and positive experience for passengers and stakeholders. This role requires maintaining all necessary licences and endorsements, adhering to environmental health and safety standards and upholding ethical practices in line with organisational goals

In this role, you will:

• Operate assigned transportation assets in a safe manner in accordance with regulatory guidelines

• Perform rostered bus services transporting passengers to and from Alice Springs as directed

• Transport deliveries as directed between Alice Springs, Our Site and airport

• Provide a safe, dynamic and well-rounded experience for the customers every day

• Utilize all material handling equipment is a safe and consistent manner

• Prepare loads for transportation within regulatory guidance

• Conduct basic Pre-Inspections of vehicles ensure vehicles are road worthy. Report any and all faults to transport supervisor. Carry out basic maintenance on vehicles

• Ensure compliance with all Site environmental health and safety requirements

• Demonstrate positive approach Amentum Ethics and goals

• Maintain all appropriate licenses and endorsements and do not operate any equipment with an expired or revoked license or endorsement

• Maintain vehicles in a clean and presentable condition including vehicle cleaning and minor maintenance

• Any other reasonable duties as requested by any member of the team

Qualifications:
Essential:

• Proven experience in transport, logistics, or related field.

• A current HR Licence for vehicle operation.

• H endorsement or the ability to obtain. 

• Strong understanding of safety practices and compliance in transport operations.

  Desirable:

• Vocational and/or tertiary qualifications in Transportation or Business stream

• HC or MC Licence for enhanced vehicle operation capabilities.

• Forklift Licence with material handling experience.

• Experience in Logistics and Transport Operations including warehouse operations

• First Aid and CPR certifications.

• White Card certification for construction or related environments

• Experience working in remote or regional locations.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to independently lift, carry, and move items up to 25kg regularly.

• Physical stamina and endurance to perform tasks that involve prolonged standing, walking, bending, or repetitive motions.

• Capability to operate material handling equipment and safely maneuver heavy loads as needed.

• Tolerance to work in outdoor and remote environments under varying weather conditions.
