As a Water Treatment Operator, you'll play a critical role in delivering safe, high-quality drinking water to the Townsville community. Working across a range of water treatment and distribution facilities, you will monitor and operate treatment processes, undertake water quality sampling and testing, respond to system alarms, and support maintenance activities to ensure reliable water services for more than 200,000 residents.
This hands-on role combines technical expertise, problem-solving, and operational excellence, offering the opportunity to work with modern treatment technologies while contributing to the health, safety, and wellbeing of our growing region. You'll also participate in an on-call roster and work closely with a dedicated team focused on safety, compliance, and service delivery
Qualifications And Experience
You are a safety-focused and proactive water industry professional with experience operating water treatment facilities and maintaining high standards of water quality. You have a strong understanding of water treatment processes, a commitment to operational excellence, and the ability to confidently monitor systems, analyse results, and respond to changing operational conditions.
To be successful in this role, you will hold a Certificate III in Water Treatment, possess strong technical and problem-solving skills, and enjoy working as part of a collaborative team dedicated to delivering essential services to the community. Experience with SCADA systems, water quality monitoring, and treatment plant operations will be highly regarded.
