About the role
Central Desert Regional Council (CDRC) is a local government authority covering an area over 282,000 Sq. kilometres. CDRC builds sustainable communities through traditional local government services such as waste management, road repair and upgrades, and community services (Community Safety, Children’s Services; Youth, Sport and Recreation, Aged Care) in 12 communities to the North of Alice Springs: Lajamanu, Ti Tree, Wilora, Nturiya, Pmara Jutunta, Willowra, Laramba, Nyirripi, Yuelamu, Atitjere, Engawala and Yuendumu. The Central Desert area is considered remote and disadvantaged and over 80% of the population are Aboriginal people.
The Senior Executive Assistant provides high-level executive, governance and project coordination support to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO), ensuring the efficient operation of the Office of the DCEO and contributing to strategic planning, corporate reporting and interdepartmental collaboration.
The role operates with considerable autonomy, representing the Office of the DCEO in interactions with internal and external stakeholders, and requires the ability to anticipate needs, manage sensitive matters with discretion, and coordinate across Council’s leadership portfolio.
The position also requires flexibility to undertake occasional overnight travel to remote communities to support high-level meetings, events and regional programs.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 2 years, subject to extension.
