• 3 days per fortnight – Friday/Saturday & Sunday

What you’ll be doing in this role

As a Leisure & Wellness Officer, you’ll help bring person-centred care to life by supporting residents to take part in activities, programs and everyday experiences that enhance their physical, emotional, social and psychological wellbeing.

This may include supporting group and one-on-one wellness activities, encouraging social connection, helping residents access community events in person or virtually, contributing to wellness calendars and newsletters, and assisting with programs such as gentle movement, mindfulness, gardening, creative activities and digital connection with family and friends.

Your care work may include

• Delivering respectful, timely and individualised leisure and wellness support aligned to each resident’s care plan
• Facilitating activities that support physical, emotional, social and nutritional wellbeing
• Building meaningful relationships with residents and families to understand personal interests, preferences and goals
• Supporting residents to connect with family, friends, community groups and health programs using technology
• Encouraging participation in onsite and community activities that promote belonging and purpose
• Working collaboratively with Leisure & Wellness Coordinators, Homemakers, Registered Nurses and Care Teams

A Day in the Life, with Uniting Aged Care

Who we’re looking for

• Certificate III in Leisure and Health, Individual Support, Aged Care or a similar qualification
• Current First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain
• Experience in aged care, disability, community services, wellbeing, recreation or lifestyle support, with previous experience in a dementia-specific environment highly regarded
• A warm, patient and empathetic approach, with a genuine interest in enhancing the lives of older people
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with residents, families and team members
• Confidence using technology to support connection, communication and participation
• Creative interests such as music, art, gardening, storytelling experience would be highly regarded
