About the OpportunityWe are seeking a motivated Veterinarian based in South Australia to provide high-quality scientific and diagnostic services to clients across Australia, New Zealand and overseas.You will work as part of a dedicated and collaborative team of veterinarians, scientists and laboratory technicians, supporting laboratory animal health monitoring and disease investigation activities.This is an opportunity for a veterinarian who is interested in developing or expanding their experience in laboratory animal health, veterinary diagnostics and laboratory-based investigation.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful applicant will be responsible for a range of veterinary and laboratory activities, including:Performing postmortem examinations and sample collection.Preparing and analysing samples, including wet mounts, faecal flotation, tape tests and blood centrifugation, as well as providing support for histology-related activities.Examining and identifying endo- and ectoparasites using a range of diagnostic methods.Accurately recording findings and maintaining appropriate sample storage and records.Following established procedures and maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality.Contributing to a safe work environment by following workplace health and safety procedures and maintaining a clean and orderly laboratory and office environment.Supporting other sections of the laboratory workflow when required.
Ideal Qualifications, Skills & ExperienceThe ideal candidate will have:A recognised veterinary degree and current eligibility for veterinary registration in South Australia. Recent graduates are welcome to apply.Knowledge and experience working in a clinical or veterinary laboratory. Experience in small animal or laboratory animal medicine would be advantageous.A strong work ethic, positive “can-do” attitude, and commitment to service excellence and meeting client expectations.The ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.Exceptional attention to detail and strong time management skills.Adaptability and the ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic team.The ability to follow established procedures and instructions accurately and consistently.Strong organisational skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.The ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and precision.Effective communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work closely with colleagues and external clients.A demonstrated commitment to animal welfare, continuous learning, and keeping up to date with developments in laboratory animal science.A willingness to support other areas of the laboratory when required.A current Australian driver's licence is preferred.
