Newcastle Weekly and Hunter & Coastal Lifestyle are continuing to grow, and we’re looking for a driven and talented journalist to join our dynamic editorial team. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in shaping our content strategy, delivering compelling stories to our audience and is excited by the way journalism is evolving across print, digital, social and video.
Behind both publications is Supply Media, a marketing and creative agency that has played a central role in the growth and evolution of the business over the past four years. That broader agency mindset has helped Newcastle Weekly and Hunter & Coastal Lifestyle strengthen their brands, grow their audiences and create new opportunities across content, digital, social, events and commercial partnerships.The successful applicant will be joining more than a traditional newsroom. You’ll be part of a forward-thinking independent media business where editorial, creative strategy, community and commercial thinking work together to build strong and highly engaged local brands.Newcastle Weekly is a free independent news publication serving the Hunter with local news, sport, business, property, events and community stories.
Hunter & Coastal Lifestyle is our premium lifestyle masthead, celebrating the people, places, homes, food, wine and experiences that shape Newcastle, the Hunter and surrounding regions.We’re looking for a journalist who can find strong local stories, build contacts, conduct interviews and produce engaging content across both publications.
Digital storytelling will form a significant part of our continued growth, so the right person will have a genuine interest in creating content beyond the written word, including social media, video and pieces to camera.
You’ll be curious, organised and comfortable working to deadlines, with the ability to move between breaking local news and longer-form lifestyle storytelling.
