About the role
SEQ Medical Pty Ltd
Melbourne VIC | Full-time | Field-based
SEQ Medical is looking for a technically capable, confident and customer-focused Water Quality & Compliance Specialist to join our Victorian operations.
This is not sales role.
We are looking for someone with a strong technical foundation who is comfortable working independently in the field taking water samples, supporting healthcare customers with remedial advice and sitting across the table from hospital stakeholders to discuss water quality, testing programs, technical issues and compliance requirements.
You do not need to already be an expert in every aspect of healthcare water quality or AS/NZS 5369. We are more interested in finding someone with the technical aptitude, communication skills and curiosity to become one.
About SEQ MedicalSEQ Medical is a specialist provider of healthcare water-quality sampling, testing, technical support and compliance services.
We work with hospitals and healthcare facilities across Australia, particularly within CSSD, endoscopy and reusable medical device reprocessing environments.
Our approach goes beyond simply collecting samples and issuing laboratory results. We work with customers to help them understand their water quality, identify potential risks and gaps, investigate non-conforming results and develop more effective testing and monitoring programs.
As our Victorian operations continue to grow, we are looking for someone who can become a key technical representative for SEQ Medical in the state.
The RoleThis is a varied position combining technical field work, water sampling, customer support and technical customer engagement.
You will work closely with our Business Development Manager, laboratory team and wider technical team.
Our BDM will continue to manage lead generation, initial prospecting, pricing, commercial discussions and the sales process.
Your role is different.
When a customer or prospective customer needs a technical conversation, you will be the person we bring into the room.
You might review their current water-testing program, understand how their system operates, discuss recurring water-quality issues, explain relevant testing requirements or help demonstrate the additional technical support SEQ Medical can provide.
You will also become an important technical contact for our existing Victorian customers.
What You’ll Be DoingYour responsibilities will include:
Conducting water sampling at hospitals and healthcare facilities across Victoria
Undertaking technical site visits and basic water-system assessments
Supporting existing customers with water-quality and testing enquiries
Reviewing and discussing laboratory results with customers
Helping investigate elevated or non-conforming water-quality results
Understanding customer sampling locations, frequencies and testing programs
Providing technical guidance within your level of competency
Developing a strong working knowledge of AS/NZS 5369:2023
Supporting customers with water-quality requirements relevant to CSSD and endoscopy
Working with our laboratory and technical team to resolve customer issues
Attending technical meetings with prospective customers after meetings have been arranged by our BDM
Asking the right questions to understand a customer's existing water-quality program and potential risks
Explaining SEQ Medical's technical capabilities clearly and professionally
Identifying additional technical needs or service opportunities within existing customers and referring these to our BDM
Maintaining accurate sampling documentation, site information and customer records
Managing your own schedule and customer visits across Victoria
However, you do need to be comfortable meeting customers and prospective customers and representing SEQ Medical professionally.
We want someone who can walk into a hospital, speak with a CSSD Manager, Endoscopy Manager, Infection Prevention professional, Facilities Manager or Engineer and have a confident, credible technical conversation.
You don't need to be a salesperson.
You do need to be good with people.
What We’re Looking ForWe are deliberately keeping the technical background reasonably broad.
You may currently work in:
Water quality
Water treatment
RO or filtration systems
Environmental or laboratory testing
Microbiology
Healthcare technical services
CSSD
Endoscopy
Infection prevention
Reusable medical device reprocessing
Medical devices
Sterilisation or washer-disinfector equipment
Another relevant technical field
What matters most is that you have a strong technical mindset and the want and ability to learn.
You will ideally have:Demonstrated technical capability in a relevant field
Strong problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal communication skills
Confidence dealing directly with customers
The ability to explain technical information in clear, practical language
A professional and approachable manner
Strong attention to detail
The ability to work autonomously and organise your own workload
A willingness to work in a field-based role and travel to customer sites
A current Australian driver's licence
Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
AS/NZS 5369:2023
CSSD
Endoscopy
Healthcare water quality
Hospital environments
Water treatment
Reverse osmosis systems
Water microbiology
Laboratory or NATA-accredited environments
Water sampling
Interpreting laboratory reports
Medical device reprocessing
Technical customer support
We do not expect candidates to have experience in all of these areas.
If you have the right technical foundation and customer-facing ability, we can provide training in the healthcare-specific aspects of the role.
The Person We Think Will SucceedYou will probably be someone who is naturally curious and likes understanding why something is happening rather than simply following a procedure.
When presented with a water-quality problem, your instinct is to ask questions, understand the system and work through the possible causes.
You will also enjoy dealing with people.
You should be capable of adjusting your communication depending on whether you're speaking with a technician, laboratory professional, engineer, department manager or senior healthcare stakeholder.
You don't need to know every answer.
What We OfferCompetitive salary based on experience
Superannuation
Car allowance arrangement
Full technical and company-specific training
Training and development in healthcare water quality and AS/NZS 5369
A varied role combining field work, technical problem solving and customer engagement
Significant autonomy in managing your Victorian workload
Direct access to the company's technical and laboratory teams
The opportunity to work with a growing national healthcare business
Genuine opportunity for the position to develop as our Victorian operations expand
We are not recruiting someone simply to collect water samples.
We want to develop someone who can become a trusted technical resource for our Victorian customers and an important part of SEQ Medical's growth in the state.
For the right person, the longer-term pathway could include progression into a Senior Technical Specialist or Victorian Technical Manager position as the business continues to expand.
Interested? If you have a technical background and think you could bring the right combination of technical capability, curiosity and customer confidence, we would like to hear from you.
Even if you don't currently have experience with AS/NZS 5369 or healthcare water quality, we encourage you to apply if you believe your existing technical experience is transferable.
