About the role
About LAPP
LAPP Australia is part of the globally recognised LAPP Group—one of the world's leading providers of integrated cable and connection technology solutions.
Since establishing in Australia in 2018, we have experienced rapid growth across key industries including industrial automation, manufacturing, rail, and energy. Our ambition is simple: to be the best employer and partner in the cable industry.
About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Production Supervisor / Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of our growing electrical wire harness and cable assembly production team.
This is not a role for someone who wants to manage production from behind a desk. We need someone who is comfortable being on the floor, setting priorities, supporting operators, solving problems and helping develop a disciplined and scalable manufacturing operation.
You will take ownership of the daily production environment, ensuring jobs move through the factory safely, efficiently, on schedule and to the required quality standard.
Working closely with Engineering, Planning, Quality, Purchasing and Management, you will coordinate labour, materials, equipment and priorities while helping improve the systems and processes that support production.
Our manufacturing operation is continuing to grow, so this is a good opportunity for someone who enjoys building structure, improving processes and helping shape how a production team operates.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise the day-to-day production team.
Allocate labour and set daily production priorities.
Ensure jobs progress according to the production schedule.
Monitor WIP, workstation queues and emerging bottlenecks.
Identify jobs at risk of delay and escalate issues early.
Ensure operators follow approved drawings, travellers and work instructions.
Maintain production quality and required inspection points.
Support first-off inspections, quality gates and final inspection.
Coordinate with Engineering and Planning to resolve production issues.
Identify material shortages and work with Purchasing and Planning to minimise disruption.
Monitor productivity, rework and labour performance.
Support operator training, cross-training and competency development.
Maintain good housekeeping, workstation organisation and production discipline.
Support continuous improvement of production flow, tooling, fixtures and work methods.
Help implement and improve digital production planning and shop-floor systems.
Ensure production reporting accurately reflects what is happening on the factory floor.
About You
You will ideally have previous experience supervising a manufacturing, assembly or production environment.
Experience in electrical manufacturing, cable assembly, wire harnessing or electromechanical assembly would be highly regarded, but we are also interested in candidates from other disciplined manufacturing environments.
You will need:
Previous production supervision or team leadership experience.
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
A practical, hands-on leadership style.
The ability to manage changing priorities.
Confidence holding people accountable for agreed standards.
Good communication skills across production and office-based teams.
The ability to interpret drawings, work instructions and production documentation.
An interest in improving manufacturing systems and processes.
Confidence using production, ERP or manufacturing software.
Highly Regarded
Experience or knowledge in any of the following would be advantageous:
Electrical wire harness or cable assembly manufacturing.
Crimping, wire cutting and stripping processes.
Electrical or electromechanical assembly.
IPC/WHMA-A-620.
ISO 9001 quality systems.
ERP or MES systems.
Production scheduling.
Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement.
Standard work and labour measurement.
What Makes This Role Different
This role is not simply about supervising operators and getting today's jobs completed.
You will have the opportunity to help build a more structured manufacturing operation through better scheduling, production visibility, work instructions, quality controls, labour reporting and digital shop-floor systems.
We are looking for someone who will question why problems keep occurring, help remove the causes and develop production systems that allow the business to grow without relying on constant firefighting.
Why Join LAPP?
Be part of a fast-growing, globally backed organisation
Join a supportive, high-performing team environment
Access ongoing training and development opportunities
Work with industry-leading products and solutions
Opportunity to grow your career within a structured Australian and Global business
