Multi-Skilled Plant Operators & Drivers

The HB Group is a local Northern Territory family-owned company and a leading supplier of construction and quarry products in the Northern Territory for over 65 years. We are a company with an excellent reputation for premium service within our industry, recently winning Supplier of the Year at the 2025 Civil Construction Federation Awards.

Due to significant increase in concrete supply demand, and with HB Group being awarded further major contracts within our Concrete Division within Darwin and remote Northern Territory, we are currently seeking experienced Multi-Skilled Plant Operators and Truck Drivers to work within our remote and urban concrete teams, specifically in the following positions:

• Mobile Concrete Plant Operators (incl. remote work)
• Agitator Drivers
• Batch Loader Operators
• Tipper Drivers

Mobile Plant Operator skills & attributes

• Experience in running, operating and maintaining mobile batch plants
• Current and valid NT Heavy Rigid Drivers’ Licence
• Loader operator ticket
• Construction industry white card
• Civil, mining and/or construction experience
• Ability to work away for periods of time (generally between 2 and 3 weeks)
• Ability to work long hours (can be up to 70 hours per week)
• Team player, with exceptional attention to detail and good reporting skills

Agitator Driver skills & attributes

• Previous experience driving an agitator truck is essential
• Knowledge of Darwin roads and the ability to navigate around the city and rural areas
• Current and valid NT Heavy Rigid Drivers’ Licence
• Construction industry white card
• Valid tickets such as Loader or Forklift are highly regarded
• Ability to work flexible hours that includes weekends and night work
• A can-do attitude and team player

Batch Loader Operators skills & attributes – 6 month fixed term contract with the possibility of extension

• Proven experience operating front-end loaders (preferably in quarry, concrete or batching environments)
• Ability to safely load materials into bins, hoppers and trucks
• Knowledge of material handling and stockpile management
• Basic machinery maintenance (pre-start checks, cleaning and reporting faults)
• Willingness to work day or night shift, overtime, weekends and in varying weather conditions
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Good communication skills with drivers, batchers and management
• Strong attention to detail

Tipper Drivers – casual 6 month fixed term contract with the possibility of extension

• A current and valid NT Heavy Rigid Drivers’ Licence
• Ability to work night shift as the majority of the work will be night shift (generally a 6pm start time)
• Exceptional communication skills on the two-way radio
• Strong attention to detail
• Must be a team player as you will be around the same small group for long periods of time
