Signage Apprentice

Position Overview

Encore Signs is seeking a motivated and reliable Signage Apprentice to join our production and installation team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in the signage & print industry while gaining hands-on experience across all aspects of sign manufacturing and installation.

Working alongside experienced team members, the Signage Apprentice will support the production, finishing, and installation of a wide variety of signage products. This role offers practical training in industry equipment, materials, fabrication techniques, and installation methods while developing valuable technical and customer service skills. The ideal candidate has a positive attitude, enjoys working with their hands, pays close attention to detail and is eager to learn.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Printing Support

• Assist with preparing artwork files for production under supervision

• Assist with printing, trimming, laminating and finishing graphics

• Help maintain production schedules and meet installation deadlines

Sign Fabrication

• Assist in the production of a variety of signage products

• Measure, cut, and prepare materials using appropriate tools and equipment

• Package completed signage for delivery or installation

• Keep work areas clean, organised, and safe, both in the factory & on-site

Installation Support

• Assist with on-site installation of internal and external signage, including vehicles

• Support experienced installers with measuring, positioning, and securing signs

• Learn proper installation techniques for various sign types

• Follow workplace safety procedures during installations

Team Support

• Work collaboratively with production, design, and installation staff

• Follow instructions from supervisors and senior team members

• Assist with deliveries and pickups when required

• Contribute to a positive, respectful, and productive workplace culture

• Be willing to learn new skills across different areas of the business

Skills & Qualifications

Essential

• Positive attitude and willingness to learn

• Strong work ethic and reliability

• Good communication skills

• Ability to follow instructions accurately

• Good attention to detail

• Physically capable of lifting materials and performing manual tasks safely

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

• Basic computer & program literacy

• Current driver's licence (or willingness to obtain one within an agreed timeframe)

• Australian Resident

Previous signage experience is not required. We value enthusiasm, commitment, and a willingness to develop practical skills.

Education

As part of your position, you’ll be required to complete or have completed the Certificate III in Signs & Graphics course at TAFE. This course is available at TAFE Ultimo & Wollongong.
