Heavy Diesel Mechanic (AG)

About the role

Senior Field Service Heavy Diesel Mechanic carrying out high quality diagnostics, repairs and servicing across agricultural and heavy diesel machinery, both in the workshop and on customer properties across the Esperance region, at a standard and a rate of recovery that keeps the workshop profitable.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair faults across the full range of agricultural machinery, including tractors, mowers, sprayers, skid steers and UTVs

• Complete scheduled servicing to manufacturer specifications

• Inspect used machinery arriving for resale, assess condition and identify work required

• Complete job cards in Mechanic Desk accurately and on the same day

• Support the apprentice with on the job training

• Travel to customer properties across the Esperance region for on site repairs and breakdowns

• Carry and manage a parts inventory appropriate to common field breakdowns

• Log travel time and kilometres accurately on every job

• Communicate job status clearly with the workshop team throughout

• Represent the business professionally on every customer site

About you

• Trade qualified, Certificate III in Heavy Plant Mechanical, Agricultural Mechanical Technology or equivalent

• Demonstrated experience with heavy diesel or agricultural machinery

• Strong diagnostic and fault finding skills

• Able to work unsupervised on field jobs and manage own time

• Full Australian driver's licence

• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in varied conditions

• Willing to complete a pre-employment medical assessment

• Field service experience in a rural or agricultural setting (desirable)

• Experience with Kioti, HARDI or comparable agricultural brands (desirable)

• Confident dealing directly with farmers and rural customers (desirable)

About us

Spotty's Mechanical is a family-owned agricultural machinery dealership and service business in Esperance, Western Australia. We cover sales, service and parts for Kioti tractors, Bad Boy mowers, HARDI sprayers, Donaldson filtration and Shell lubricants, with occasional work on marine engines and aviation support. The team is small. Jared runs the workshop and closes machine sales, Corrina runs operations, Celeste covers parts and admin, and we have an apprentice in training.

Benefits

• $55 to $65 per hour plus superannuation, paid weekly

• 2.5% commission on the contracted sale price of any machine sale the employee generates a lead for

• Field service vehicle provided, including fuel card and personal use around town

• Home every night, no fly in fly out and no camp rosters
