Sheet Metal Supervisor

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Supervisor (Afternoon Shift) to join Aussie Sheet Metal in Berrinba, QLD. This is a full-time position that offers a fantastic opportunity to lead and oversee sheet metal operations whilst ensuring quality, safety and efficiency standards are maintained. As Sheet Metal Supervisor, you will play a vital role in managing our production team, maintaining operational excellence and contributing to the strategic success of our manufacturing operations. This role requires on-site presence in our Berrinba facility.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and manage sheet metal machine operators and production staff, ensuring they adhere to safety protocols and quality standards

• Monitor production schedules and ensure timely completion of jobs whilst maintaining high-quality output

• Conduct regular safety inspections and implement corrective actions to maintain a safe working environment

• Train and mentor machine operators on equipment operation, best practices and company procedures

• Liaise with senior management to report on production metrics, challenges and opportunities for improvement

• Maintain accurate production records and documentation in compliance with company requirements

• Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate maintenance activities to minimise downtime

• Ensure compliance with relevant workplace health and safety legislation and company policies

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and process optimisation within the sheet metal department

What we're looking for

• Proven supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing or sheet metal environment, preferably within the last 3-5 years

• Strong knowledge of sheet metal machinery, equipment operation and manufacturing processes

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and manage teams effectively

• Sound understanding of workplace health and safety obligations and best practices

• Demonstrated ability to manage production schedules and meet quality targets

• Problem-solving mindset with strong attention to detail

• Proficiency in reading technical drawings and specifications

• Relevant qualifications or certifications in manufacturing, supervision or safety (preferred but not essential)

• Physical capability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery and varying temperatures
