About the role
The Store Manager is responsible for the financial and operational performance of the store. They are accountable for both the customer and employee experience within their store, and for ensuring that the business strategy and initiatives are effectively implemented in the workshop. Store Managers need to build long term trusting customer relationships by providing appropriate recommendations and ensuring the delivery of high-quality work. They are expected to operate at all times within the framework of guidelines, policies and procedures, and applicable laws and regulatory standards.
Key responsibilities
Accountable for a safe site, everyone, every day, and for implementing and evaluating safe work practices, improving safety performance and building a safety culture
Deliver consistent store performance and grow customer transactions, sales and profit
Utilise sales skills to maximise conversion rates of both new enquiries and outcomes from vehicle inspections
Proactively plan store resourcing and workload and allocate jobs effectively to maximise productivity and sales
Ensure performance targets are met and review store trading performance
Build a positive performance and engagement team culture
Ensure appropriate supervision and technical training is provided to apprentices and trainees
Provide appropriate training including induction, safety, sales, telephone, store operations and technical
Recruit, select and on-board team members, and manage their performance with regular feedback and coaching
Maintain the highest standard of workmanship in all areas of the store and manage work to maximise productivity and sales
Ensure company customer service standards are in place and supported through team behaviours and ongoing training
Respond to enquiries promptly, courteously and professionally, and handle customer complaints within authority guidelines
Attend to administration details, supplier and parts orders, Head office paperwork and reporting, and customer quotations
Maintain company standards, policies and procedures, and ensure building and equipment maintenance is conducted regularly
Manage compliance with all company policies, applicable legislation and relevant regulatory standards
About you
Valid Driver's Licence
Certificate 3 in Light Vehicle Automotive
2-3 years experience in a management or leadership role
Retail leadership experience preferred
Leadership and people management skills
Strong sales skills and a customer service orientation
Good planning and organisational skills
Communication skills and computer literacy
Numerical reasoning to understand and interpret data such as store P&L and KPIs
Ideally would possess mechanical and tyre knowledge across a range of vehicle brands and types
