Panel Shop Leading Hand

McHarry's Buslines has proudly served the Geelong, Bellarine and Surf Coast communities for over 100 years. We are seeking an experienced Panel Shop Leading Hand to lead our Panel Shop team, ensuring our fleet is maintained to the highest standards of safety, presentation and quality.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Panel Beater or Heavy Vehicle Body Repair Tradesperson looking to take the next step into a leadership role.

Your role and responsibility will include but not be limited to:-

• Leading and supporting the Panel Shop team.

• Planning and allocating daily work.

• Carrying out panel repairs and body maintenance on buses.

• Performing fibreglass repairs, including reconstruction, filling and finishing of damaged panels

• Repairing and replacing body panels and associated components

• Preparing vehicles for painting, including sanding, filling and masking

• Ensuring quality workmanship and timely completion of repairs

• Promoting safe work practices and compliance with company procedures

• Liaising with the Workshop team and management to coordinate repairs

• Supporting apprentices and developing team capability

• Assisting with continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop

To be successful you will have:

• Trade qualification as a Panel Beater, Vehicle Body Repairer or Fibreglassing. Alongside demonstrated relevant experience.

• Experience working on heavy vehicles, buses or trucks (highly regarded)

• Previous leadership or supervisory experience, or the desire to step into a Leading Hand role

• Strong organisational and communication skills

• A commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship

• The ability to motivate and support a small team

• A Heavy Vehicle License, or willingness to obtain one within six months of commencement (internal driver training provided)

• 12 paid RDOs each year

• up to $46 per hour + $150 leading hand allowance per week + overtime

• Stable, full-time position

• Monday to Friday roster - (7am - 5pm)
