Schools Manager – Outdoor Education
Adventure Plus Outdoor Education
Adventure Plus Outdoor Education (APOE) is a family-owned business based on the Mornington Peninsula, delivering exceptional Outdoor Education programs and Year Level Camps to secondary schools across Victoria.
We are currently seeking a motivated, professional and passionate Schools Manager to join our vibrant and supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in a growing organisation, helping shape the future of Outdoor Education while making a meaningful impact on students, schools and our dedicated staff.
About the Role
As a Schools Manager, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivery of high-quality Outdoor Education programs. Working closely with schools, you will design programs that meet educational objectives while ensuring the highest standards of safety, wellbeing and customer service.
You will lead and manage teams of Outdoor Education group leaders and specialist instructors, oversee program logistics, and maintain strong relationships with schools, students, parents and staff.
Key Responsibilities
Design and coordinate Outdoor Education programs tailored to each school's learning objectives.
Lead and manage Adventure Plus group leaders and specialist staff.
Plan and oversee all program logistics, documentation, catering, equipment and resources.
Ensure programs are delivered safely, professionally and in accordance with Adventure Plus policies and industry standards.
Manage participant wellbeing, risk management and emergency procedures.
Liaise with schools to ensure educational outcomes and program expectations are achieved.
Conduct pre-program planning, on-program management and post-program evaluations.
Prepare professional program documentation, proposals and reports.
Deliver briefings, presentations and clear communication to students, parents and school staff.
Assist with equipment preparation, packing and maintenance within our operations facility as required.
About You
You are an enthusiastic, organised and approachable leader who thrives in a dynamic environment. You possess excellent communication and administration skills, enjoy problem-solving, and are passionate about providing outstanding outdoor learning experiences.
Essential Skills & Experience
Certificate IV, Diploma or Degree in Outdoor Education, Outdoor Recreation or equivalent.
Recognised competency in at least two of the following:
Bushwalking
Cycling
Canoeing
Rock Climbing
Sea Kayaking
Excellent organisational, administration and communication skills.
Experience leading teams and managing educational programs.
Strong understanding of risk management and participant wellbeing.
Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Workspace and PowerPoint.
Ability to prepare professional documentation, proposals and tender responses.
Strong teaching and facilitation skills, including lesson planning and adapting to different learning styles.
Ability to identify and manage hazards and adapt leadership approaches to changing environments.
Commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.
Desirable Experience
Minimum two years' experience in Outdoor Education or a related field.
Experience or recognised competency in one or more of the following:
Abseiling
Climbing
High Ropes
Rafting
Sea Kayaking
Ski Touring
Mandatory Requirements
Applicants must hold, or be willing to obtain:
Wilderness First Aid (or equivalent)
Current CPR (annual renewal)
Working with Children Check
National Police Check
Current Driver Licence
Medium Rigid Licence (preferred) or willingness to obtain during employment
CPV Licence (preferred) or willingness to obtain during employment
